Marine Parks are designated in Hong Kong to protect and conserve the marine environment for the purposes of conservation, education and recreation. Marine Parks are also important for maintaining the fisheries industry in Hong Kong by providing protected areas, breeding grounds and nursery grounds for marine species with economic values.

Ecosystems Ltd. has also collaborated with local and overseas universities on several studies commissioned by Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to investigate the fisheries resources in the Marine Parks and nearby marine habitats of concerned.

The surveys covered adult fish and juvenile fish by various sampling methods, and aims to investigate the fisheries resources in the existing marine parks, proposed marine parks, and control sites nearby.
