Our first study on Eco-garden design for redevelopment of Sau Mau Ping Estate managed by Housing Authority. The challenges included utilising the limited area on an engineering slope and mitigation the potential disturbance from nearby projects during the establishment of the eco-garden. A pilot trial was performed which allowed the testing of performance of different plant species on ecological functions inside urban areas, and also provision of additional food sources for wildlife during temporary loss of habitats nearby.
Grand Award in “Green Building Award 2010” was granted to this redevelopment project.
