An ADB Technical Assistance Project requiring a full environmental impact assessment of two proposed port expansion projects in the PRC: Fangcheng in Guangxi Province and Yantai in Shandong Province. The Fangcheng project also involved development of a highway to serve the expanded port.

Ecosystems Ltd. reviewed Environmental Impact Assessments carried out by domestic consultants for each port site, conducted site visits and reviewed the environmental design and planning of the projects. The proposed expansions were large in relation to existing facilities Key environmental and ecological issues included the relocation of seaweed cultivation at Yantai and highway development at Fangcheng.
